Traveling to Wales? Be sure visit the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
Folks who travel to the United Kingdom for vacation often visit Wales in order to enjoy the amazing natural scenery found there.
But Wales also happens to be home to a village with a very interesting name. In fact, it's name has made this village a popular tourist destination all by itself.
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is a village on the island of Anglesey, and as you might have guessed it happens to have the longest name of any place in Europe.
But don't worry - if you have trouble pronouncing the full name you can simply use one of the villages two shortened names:
Llanfairpwllgwyngyll or Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll
See how much easier that is?
Other than its unusually long (and virtually impossible to pronounce) name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is more or less just like any other European community of a similar size.
But if you happen to pay them a visit you can tell your friends back home where you've been. Who knows, maybe they'll want to visit it too.
By the way, if you're curious about the proper pronunciation of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, listen to the weatherman featured in the very short video below and you'll hear him pronounce it perfectly.
