Time is both precious and fleeting. Use it wisely.
“Time is what we want most and what we use worst.“
-–William Penn
Chances are you've heard the famous adage "Youth is wasted on the young".
When you think about it, there's a lot of truth in that.
By the time most of us have life figured out, we've already used most of it up.
No person knows with certainty how long he/she will live. It could be another ten seconds, another ten decades, or any length of time in between.
That's why we need to live every day as if it's our last, because it very well could be.
Every minute that passes by is both one more minute added to our past and one more minute subtracted from our future.
Once a slice of time has slipped into the past it can never be recovered. Therefore, we need to get - and keep - our lives in order as quickly and as well as we possibly can.
And just as important, we need to live for today while keeping an eye looking towards the future.
Think about this for a moment...
If today were to be your last day on planet Earth would the people you love know you love them? Would they know how much you love them?
If the hourglass of your life were to run out right now, would you have imparted all the wisdom you want to share with your children and grandchildren, or would you take some of it to the grave with you?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with relaxing and "wasting" a little time on occasion, especially if you're past retirement age.
Just be careful not to waste too much of it before all of your goals, aspirations and obligations have been met.
And now, one final thought...
Every morning that the good Lord allows you to awaken and greet a new dawn is a precious gift. Always try your best to treat it as such if you possibly can.
Of course there will be days that are less than great. And some of them will be just plain awful.
But even the days that don't begin with a smile have the potential to end with one. And even the ones that don't will be followed by yet another dawn if the Lord sees fit to allow it.
Which brings us full circle...
Every morning that you're allowed to awaken and experience the dawning of a new day is a gift. Always try your best to treat it as such and you will be richly blessed.
