How to easily add a thermostat to any fan (without doing any electrical wiring)
As you probably know, this summer has turned out to be a real scorcher in many places around the world.
If it’s hotter than usual where you live, you might be using an electric fan to keep a room or outbuilding cool, helping to get you through the heat of the day.
Personally, I love using a big box-type fan like the ones you can get at Walmart and other local retailers for around twenty bucks.
Those box fans work well and they’re relatively inexpensive, but they do have one huge downside: they don’t have a thermostat to turn them off after the temperature drops at night. And truth be told, very few portable electric fans do.
I don’t know about you, but I hate waking up shivering at 2AM with a fan blowing cold air all over me.
Well, I’ve found the perfect solution…
Turns out you can get a digital thermostat outlet controller that works with virtually any fan that plugs into a wall outlet.
Simply set the turn-on and turn-off temps on the controller and then plug in the fan and sit back and enjoy the cool breeze while the thermostat controller keeps its digital eye on the ambient temperature for you.
Once the temperature drops to the turn-off temperature the fan will automatically be shut off.
I checked on Amazon and saw they have dozens of these controllers to choose from, but based on its great reviews I decided to go with the DIGITEN Digital Thermostat Outlet Controller Switch pictured above.
Straight to the point, this thing works like a charm.
It’s easy to program, and even easier to use. Once the desired temps have been set you simply plug the fan into the controller and forget about it.
Bottom line: These awesome thermostat controllers allow you to set your fan to come on and go off at the temperatures you choose. And the best thing is you won’t have to do any electrical wiring in order to make it happen!
And by the way, you don’t necessarily have to order one of these thermostat outlet controllers online. Some local retailers have them as well (check with Lowes or Home Depot).
