The planet Venus is remarkable in many ways. For example, Venus’ atmosphere is much thicker than Earth’s atmosphere. And Venus is also the brightest object in the sky not counting the sun and moon.
Venus has several other characteristics that distinguish it from the other planets, but the one I find most interesting is the Venusian reality of time…
If you could somehow make the move to Venus and survive there, your days would actually last longer than your years.
How is this possible, you ask?
Well, as detailed on NASA’s Venus Facts page, Venus rotates on its axis much slower than Earth.
It takes a snail-like 243 Earth days for Venus to make a single revolution on its axis (i.e. one Venusian day).
On the other hand, due to Venus’ relatively close proximity to the sun, it makes one relatively speedy revolution around the sun (i.e. one Venusian year) every 225 Earth days.
In other words, a day on Venus lasts longer than a year!
